David Trezeguet Had His Say On Ronaldo’s Time At Juventus

By the end of his role as Juventus ambassador, David Trezeguet took an interview with ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ to analyse his spell in charge. And, as expected, the name of Cristiano Ronaldo came up. The Frenchman said about him that, while it wasn’t all perfect, the important thing is that he was an effective signing.

Trezeguet believes that Juventus’ signing of Cristiano Ronaldo was a great move by the club’s board. The Frenchman stepped down from his role as ambassador of the ‘Vecchia Signora’ and took an interview with ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ to analyse his spell in Turin. The Portuguese international and the stability of the dressing room came up as important topics.

“The most brilliant thing was signing Cristiano, nobody expected CR7 to go to a club who has always taken the upmost care with the balance sheet. Of course, there was the odd problem with his teammates, but he scored 100 goals”, he stated. Therefore, to Trezeguet’s judgement, bringing in the Portuguese from Real Madrid was definitely worth it.

When asked about what could destabilise the dressing room, he responded: “I don’t think anyone like Zidane would have known how to manage it. Maybe at Juve there’s a lack of dialogue. A coach can take a player, show him a match and tell him: ‘Look, you were walking around for 90 minutes, help me to win’. There are players that make you winners and you can’t have them against you, Ronaldo is one of those and so is Dybala. Others, with the upmost respect, less so.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, after various seasons unable to conquer the much sought-after Champions League title with Juventus, who also let their hold on Serie A slip to Inter last season, toyed with the idea of leaving the club. At the moment, however, he continues to be a ‘bianconero’ and, in light of the new sporting directive, it looks he will continue at the club.
